Day 36: Its time, for change.
Since today is voting day in Texas, I decided to finally get finish this site redesign. Actually I finally finished homework and turned it in. This week isn’t a very good week though. I have a midterm on Saturday that will prove to be incredibly difficult. It’d be so much better if I truly liked the subject. After Saturday, I have a test on Monday as well. I then have homework due on Friday that I won’t get until this Friday. Fun! All this time, I have to pack and prep for San Fran. Its just a little more than a week away. I can’t wait. My life will be much easier if I get my car back tomorrow. Oh yes, I’d be a happy man.
So lets cover some news! I’ve been swamped so lets do a nice post tonight.
According to Engadget, Nike and Apple have teamed up for another workout device. This time, they are modifying the machines. Cardio machine (treadmill, stair climber, row, elliptical) companies have also joined up for the cause. As soon as this summer, you will start to see these machines with docks for your iPod. It will download your cardio data (ie miles, pace, calories) to the Nike Plus website so that you can view it later. This will be a great way to log yourself and to set short or long term goals. The problem is it only works with the iPod Nano. Seriously? Can’t you just build a 3rd party connector and force consumers to buy an adapter? This way you could use any iPod on any brand machine without having issues. I see where Nike, Apple and company are going with this, but I think it is extremely limited and poorly executed. More information, here.
Today Boeing announced they are working on a project dubbed “F6.” They are working to guide un-manned spacecraft simultaneously. These drones would perform any duty, but must work as a team. To do this, they are basing their engineering off distributed computing. This is quite interesting and I can’t wait for more details to be released. Obviously, businesses have showcased the power of distributed computing. Its about time it is used in other, more unique applications. More details, at Gizmodo.
Finally I’ll leave you with another comic from Piled Higher and Deeper. Its so true.
